Asia Premiere
A compelling mix of dance, spoken word and original songs that transforms vulnerability into a source of strength
A playful and poignant musical dance theatre production by Italian-born-Swiss-based choreographer Alessandro Schiattarella.
At the heart of Zer-Brech-Lich, German for “fragile”, are three talented disabled performers – Alice Giuliani, Victoria Antonova and Laila White – who bring to life songs by Swiss musician Gina Ete. Performing with a blend of direct and poetic expression and humour, they explore questions around fragility from personal and political perspectives, and invite the audience to rethink perceptions of weakness and strength: Can fragility be powerful? Can fragility unite people? Can it act as a catalyst to challenge false ideals of beauty and success?
As the performers voice their vulnerabilities and dance, they care for and support each other while playfully constructing and deconstructing images and sets. Slowly revealing the mechanisms behind the creation of illusions, they spark reflections on a future where diversity replaces “the norm”, and remind us that true power and beauty lie in embracing and celebrating our differences. Zer-Brech-Lich premiered at Festival Theaterformen in 2023.
